SAMAM

Natiarambam

KEY POINTS:

  • Feet should be together.
  • Knees should be straight - not bent!
  • Weight in the center.
  • Hands on the waist.
  • Back straight!

THINGS TO AVOID

IMG
1. Feet should be TOGETHER, not apart!
IMG
2. Back straight! Don't lean back.
IMG
3. Don't put weight on one hip, make sure to keep weight in the center!

NATYARAMBAM

Natiarambam

KEY POINTS:

  • Tricep up
  • Elbow up (Don't sag elbow)
  • Patakam held tightly and up
  • Relax shoulder (don't keep it too high)

THINGS TO AVOID

IMG
1. Make sure to keep your ELBOW UP!
IMG
2. Don't keep your arm straight. There should be a SLIGHT CURVE made by pushing the elbow alone back.
IMG
3. Don't make a BREAK with your wrist! Make sure your Patakam is raised so that your arm line is consistent.

ARAMANDI

SVASTIKAM

KEY POINTS:

  • Big toe of back foot next to the small toe of front foot!
  • Open feet - front foot should face the side.
  • Heel up for the back leg!
  • Both knees should be open (facing the sides)

THINGS TO AVOID

IMG
1. This is TOO FAR apart! Make sure the big toe of the back leg is right behind the little toe of the front leg.

There's a different movement that may look like this, but not the typical svastikam.
IMG
2. The back heel should be held UP and tightly!
IMG
3. Both knees should be facing to the SIDES.

PRENKANAM

  • Foot should be placed to the side.

  • Make sure to sit deeply in Aramandi.

THINGS TO AVOID

IMG
1. The foot is wrong. It should be stretched tightly, facing the SKY. Here, it's drooping too much.
